Kylian Mbappe all smiles as he joins Ousmane Dembele to watch Paris Saint-Germain struggle against Lorient in Ligue 1 opener
Kylian Mbappe was pictured with a smile on his face as he watched Paris Saint-Germain fall short in Luis Enrique’s first match in charge.
The French forward was in attendance at the Parc des Princes for the club’s Ligue 1 opener with Lorient, sitting alongside fellow outcast Ousmane Dembele as he laughed and joked during a frustrating 0-0 draw.
Despite boasting 78 percent possession and having 20 shots, PSG couldn’t make the breakthrough as life under their new boss got off to a frustrating start.
Enrique’s task may have been harder by the decision to exclude Mbappe from first-team duty.
The 24-year-old has been a huge topic of controversy in Paris this summer as he moves into the final year of his contract at the club.
After making it clear that he wouldn’t be signing a new deal, PSG made it clear that he would either sign a new deal or be sold, with the club believing that the player has already agreed to join Real Madrid at the end of his contract next summer.
As a result, he has been barred from training and was included in a ‘loft’ training group instead.
Whether Enrique will decide to reintegrate Mbappe with the first team remains to be seen, but for now, he doesn’t seem to mind watching on from the stands.
